Youth Project “VAI KYTRA KYTRA. Lithuanian Folk ornaments and colour relationships in young artist creations”
2007 May 25 @ 10:00 - 2007 June 10 @ 17:00
The goal of the projection was to nurture creativity while rediscovering folk art traditions.
Young students got acquainted with the ornamentation and color relationships of folk art. It is importan for these students to find a correlation between professional contemporary artists and the folk art. We hoped students would look differently at their resources and understand the importance of art interpretation in everyday life.
Jurga Juodytė, Saulius Leonavičius (Vilnius), Elena Urbonaitė (Kaunas), Bronius Rutkauskas, Vida Burbulienė (Kėdainiai), and Giedrė Valtaitė helped present this project.
A field trip to Antanas and Jonas Juška – a unique, ethnic cultural museum – in Vilkija was arranged. Participants experienced folk art first hand by painting cupboards and window shutters. Later, the project and art works created, were exhibited at the Janina Monkute Marks Museum on June 1.
The Kėdainiai Regional Goverment provided funding for the Youth Project.
