Janina Monkutė-Marks (1923 – 2010)"A GIFT TO THE HOMELAND"Janina Monkutė-Marks was born in Radviliškis, on September 21st in Lithuania, passed away on November 13rd.She studied in Pagėgiai Primary and Secondary School. Janina Monkute-Marks “A GIFT TO THE HOMELAND” in Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania
After ten years an exhibition dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of Janina Monkute -Marks was opened for the second time in Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. The exhibition was offered and sponsored by Vydas Gedvilas, Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. 90th ANNIVERSARY of Janina Monkute-Marks
On September 21, the 90th Anniversary of Janina Monkute -Marks was celebrated. Director of the Museum Dalia introduced the event program and a string ensemble played Janina’s favorite pieces of classical music. Many interesting moments of Janina’s life captured in photographs were exhibited. The room was decorated with little birdies – a favorite symbol of the artist often used in her creations. Educational Photo Exhibition “WILD WILD WEST” by Zinas Kazenas-Zika
This cowboy culture-inspired exhibition “Wild Wild West” by Zinas Kazenas is a part of the educational program “Reflections of the American Culture at Janina Monkute-Marks Museum” funded by the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania. All visitors were invited to come in the cowboy clothing. During the opening a competition was held, and Asta, Curator of the Museum, was voted the best dressed in the cowboy clothing. Anastazija and Antanas Tamosaiciai Gallery “Zidinys” celebrated the decade since its founding. The exhibition “Antanas Tamosaitis and his Environment”, which consisted of the works created by author himself, his wife Anastazija and students, including Janina Monkute-Marks, was organized. International Christmas Exhibition “BLACK LIGHT 2 – EXPERIMENTS”
“BLACK LIGHT“ is a contemporary art exhibition which has been presented in various European cities already for several years.In summer of 2005 a group of Lithuanian textile artists (Laima Oržekauskienė, Inga Likšaitė, Almyra Bartkevičiūtė - Weigel, Jolanta Šmidtienė) were invited to take part in the international exhibition “Advertising Art in the Black Light” in Berlin.
